My Mini Cooper Feels Sluggish Lately – What Should I Check?

So I've had my 2016 Mini Cooper S for about two years now, and honestly it's been such a fun little car to daily drive. The handling is razor sharp, it fits into any parking spot, and that turbocharged engine just puts a smile on my face every time I step on it. But over the past couple of weeks, I've started noticing that it just doesn't feel as eager as it used to. It's not a massive difference, nothing dramatic enough to trigger a warning light or anything, but it feels like there's a slight delay when I press the accelerator, almost like the engine is taking a second to wake up before it actually goes. It's most noticeable when I'm pulling away from a stop or trying to merge onto the highway, where I used to get this nice surge of power and now it feels a bit flat and hesitant. I've already done the basics like checking the air filter and making sure the tires are properly inflated, but I'm starting to wonder if it could be something more involved like a dirty MAF sensor, clogged fuel injectors, or maybe even the beginning of a turbo issue. I've been reading through some Mini forums and it seems like these cars can be pretty sensitive to maintenance, and people have had all kinds of experiences with similar symptoms. Some people said it was just a bad spark plug or ignition coil, others mentioned the high-pressure fuel pump failing, and a few even said it was a software issue that needed a dealer update. The tricky part is that without a check engine light, it's hard to know where to even start looking, and I don't want to just start replacing parts randomly and hoping something sticks. I've also noticed that the fuel economy has dropped slightly, which makes me think it could be related to the air-fuel mixture or maybe the oxygen sensors are starting to act up. I'm planning to take it to a shop that knows these cars well, because I've heard that Minis can be a bit quirky and not every mechanic really understands them. I actually came across a place while searching online that seems to specialize in European cars and had some good reviews from Mini owners, and you can find them at caracrepairsharjah.ae/brands/mini-cooper if you're curious. I guess what I'm really hoping for is some insight from people who've been through something similar with their Mini. Did you have a sluggish feeling that turned out to be something simple, or was it a bigger issue that ended up costing a lot more than you expected? I'm trying to decide whether I should just bite the bullet and get a full diagnostic done, or if there are some other things I should check myself before I spend money at a shop. I really love this car and I want to keep it running right, but I also don't want to overreact to what might just be me being overly sensitive to normal behavior. Any advice from fellow Mini owners would be hugely appreciated right now because I'm kind of stuck between wanting to be proactive and not wanting to waste money on unnecessary work.
