Title: Why people pull away
Post by: MitchellIke on 27/07/2026 09:24:50 AM - Monday July 27 2026
Hi everyone. I've noticed a pattern in my relationships lately where everything goes great, but as soon as we start getting really close, the other person suddenly pulls away and creates distance. It is so confusing and frustrating. Why do people react like this when intimacy deepens? Has anyone else experienced this?

Hello. I recently read a really helpful article on this topic on Wedaf Blog. It explains that pulling away often comes from a subconscious fear of intimacy or an avoidant attachment style rather than a loss of interest. When emotional closeness increases, it can feel overwhelming or threaten a person's sense of independence, triggering a self-protection mechanism to regain control.
