If there is one car in Forza Horizon 6 that needs no introduction, it is the legendary 1991 Mazda #55 Mazda 787B (https://www.u4n.com/news/forza-horizon-6-mazda-55-mazda-787b-location-where-to-find.html). That screaming rotary engine is a piece of motorsport history, and having it mapped out across the beautiful roads of Japan makes it a must-have for any garage.
But if you are looking to drop some credits at the Autoshow or hunt for one on the Auction House, you are out of luck. The developers locked this beast exclusively behind the Barn Find system. It is treated as a true endgame reward, meaning you have to earn the right to track it down.
Here is exactly how to unlock the rumor, find the hidden barn, and get the 787B in your hands.
Step 1: Unlock the Barn Rumor
In older Forza titles, you could sometimes cheat the system by driving straight to a barn location early in the game. That does not work in Forza Horizon 6. If you go to the spot before triggering the actual rumor, you will just find an empty clearing and closed doors. You have to progress through the campaign to get the radio call.
Open up your campaign menu and head over to the Collector's Journal.
Start knocking out festival events. Anything from story missions, standard road races, to drifting down Touge mountain passes will award you points.
Your goal is to boost your Discover Japan rank. Keep grinding until you hit Level 7 (Master Explorer).
Once you hit Level 7, the game will award you a final Gold Stamp. The second that stamp lands, the Mazda 787B Barn Find rumor will officially unlock, and the purple search circle will pop up on your world map.
Step 2: Track Down the Barn Location
With the rumor active, you can head out for the actual hunt. The search circle points you toward the Takashiro region, but the barn itself is tucked away pretty deep.
Fast travel or drive out to the north-eastern corner of the Takashiro region.
Look at your mini-map for a wide, sweeping, U-shaped road wrapped around a dense forest area.
Drive your car up to the top section of this curvy road, heading toward the north-east.
Slow down and keep your eyes peeled on the side of the road for a hidden dirt path cutting directly into the thick treeline.
Turn onto this dirt trail and follow it down through the woods. It will lead you straight into a clearing with the old barn, triggering the classic restoration cutscene.
Step 3: Wait Out the Restoration
Once the cutscene ends, your work is technically done, but you won't be able to drive the car right away. Because the Mazda 787B is a legendary, top-tier vehicle, the Horizon garage crew takes a long time to restore it back to mint condition.
The game will give you an option to spend Credits to bypass the timer and finish the car instantly. Unless you are absolutely swimming in cash and cannot wait another minute, do not waste your credits. The timer ticks down while you play, so just go back to finishing standard festival races, completing PR stunts, or exploring the map. Eventually, you will get a notification that the restoration is finished, and you can claim your completely free, race-ready 787B.
